【Notices】Director Handover Ceremony Held for the Master’s Program in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language

The Master Program in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at National Chi Nan University held its official handover ceremony in August 2025. Dr. Tao Yu-Pu stepped down from her role as director, with Dr. Chi Wan-Hsien assuming the position. The ceremony was witnessed by the Dean of the College of Humanities, symbolizing the passing of leadership and the continuation of the program's development.

Dr. Tao had served as director since April 2023. During her term, she demonstrated outstanding leadership and unwavering support for both faculty and students. She was known for encouraging students and uniting the academic community with empathy and vision. In 2024, despite a severe shortage of manpower, she successfully led the team in organizing the Taiwan Conference on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and International Academic Symposium, earning widespread recognition. Dr. Tao consistently advocated for the program and its students, actively voicing concerns and striving for better resources and support.

Dr. Chi Wan-Hsien, the new director, brings with her a wealth of experience in Chinese language teaching and academic program development. She is expected to build upon the program’s solid foundation and further strengthen its teaching quality and international outreach, opening up new possibilities for future growth.

The faculty and students of the program extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tao for her dedicated service and warmly welcome Dr. Chi as they look forward to a new chapter in the program’s journey.
