In recent years, Mandarin Chinese has become one of the dominant languages internationally. Currently, there are nearly 40 million foreign individuals learning Mandarin Chinese worldwide, with over 2,300 universities in more than 100 countries offering various types of Chinese language courses. The field of Mandarin Chinese teaching is facing a severe shortage of qualified teachers. According to incomplete statistics from mainland China, the demand for Mandarin Chinese teachers in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, as well as in regions such as the Arab world, South America, and Africa, continues to increase. There is also a significant and urgent need for Mandarin Chinese teachers in countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and Pakistan. Rough estimates indicate that Indonesia lacks approximately 100,000 Mandarin Chinese teachers, Malaysia lacks 90,000, and Hong Kong lacks 25,000. Currently, mainland China provides fewer than 6,000 qualified teachers annually, indicating a long way to go in meeting the market demand. Therefore, this is a market situation where supply falls short of demand. |
