Educational Goals

Our program is dedicated to cultivating professionals who excel in both teaching and research in the field of international Chinese language education. We aim to:

1. Train outstanding teachers and research scholars in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL)
2. Balance practical training with theoretical instruction
3. Provide a bilingual learning environment, enabling students to teach Chinese effectively in multilingual contexts
4. Foster a global perspective and cross-cultural competence among all graduates
5. Equip students with the skills to work independently in educational institutions both in Taiwan and abroad
6. Strengthen students’ academic research abilities and professional competencies

Core Abilities

Graduates of the program will acquire:

1. Comprehensive mastery of Chinese language, culture, and pedagogical skills
2. The ability to interpret theoretical works in multiple languages and apply diverse teaching theories in classroom settings
3. Bilingual communication competence for effective interaction in international teaching environments
4. A deep understanding of cultural diversity, with the ability to observe, analyze, and critically reflect on global viewpoints
5. The capability to pass the Ministry of Education’s Examination for Proficiency in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, and to independently teach Chinese at various proficiency levels
6. Proficiency in academic research methodologies, demonstrated through the successful completion of an independent research project
