Educational Goals
Our program is dedicated to cultivating professionals who excel in both teaching and research in the field of international Chinese language education. We aim to:
- Train outstanding teachers and research scholars in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL)
- Balance practical training with theoretical instruction
- Provide a bilingual learning environment, enabling students to teach Chinese effectively in multilingual contexts
- Foster a global perspective and cross-cultural competence among all graduates
- Equip students with the skills to work independently in educational institutions both in Taiwan and abroad
- Strengthen students’ academic research abilities and professional competencies
Core Abilities
Graduates of the program will acquire:
- Comprehensive mastery of Chinese language, culture, and pedagogical skills
- The ability to interpret theoretical works in multiple languages and apply diverse teaching theories in classroom settings
- Bilingual communication competence for effective interaction in international teaching environments
- A deep understanding of cultural diversity, with the ability to observe, analyze, and critically reflect on global viewpoints
- The capability to pass the Ministry of Education’s Examination for Proficiency in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, and to independently teach Chinese at various proficiency levels
- Proficiency in academic research methodologies, demonstrated through the successful completion of an independent research project
