Title: Chinese as a Medium of Instruction for Higher Education: Curriculum Design and Teaching Practice
In recent years, " Chinese as a Medium of Instruction" has been the center of attention in Taiwan's colleges. This research began with a focus on " Chinese as a Medium of Instruction." Prior to the emergence of the COVID-19 epidemic, the number of overseas students studying in Taiwan had been increasing annually. The study discovered that, among them, those with a formal degree were unfamiliar with classroom language and campus culture. It has prevented students from learning Chinese and even caused anxiety about learning.

Through the " Chinese as a Medium of Instruction" course designed for international students at University A in middle of Taiwan, this research has aimed to determine if students' classroom language understanding improved after taking the " Chinese as a Medium of Instruction" course. From the students' responses, more analysis of their needs was conducted, and then new texts were developed and the curriculum was planned. Following three implementations of action research, thirteen lessons were written.

The triangulation method was used to examine questionnaires and interviews in this research. The results have indicated that the " Chinese as a Medium of Instruction " course could increase students' awareness of campus culture and their ability to interact with teachers and classmates in class. The researcher has also discovered that students' confidence in learning Chinese would increase. The language used in class varies by department. This research has been developed based on the common themes of University A's departments. Therefore, it is suggested that future study in the field of " Chinese as a Medium of Instruction" could take on various designs based on the traits and characteristics of various universities. In addition to the collection of teaching materials and the design and implementation of three times of action research, the findings of this study might be included into a course module for the future development of "Chinese as a Medium of Instruction".
